About MLN

My Little Needle is a boutique styled tattoo studio in the heart of Plymouth’s Old Village. It was opened in 2008 by Latricia Horstman, an artist with over a decade of experience.

Latricia worked for years in Lansing at a street shop with a long history – Inkporium Tattoos. She completed her apprenticeship there during her college years, and then worked full time tattooing. But when that shop closed in 2008, she wanted something a little more cozy – offering her clients a more specialized, one on one environment. After a short stint guest spotting in Ypsilanti at Liquid Swordz (thanks fellas!), she opened MLN.

In 2011, My Little Needle underwent renovations, allowing room for more artists to join the studio, and giving our customers a more relaxed, artistic environment.

In 2012 we were joined by Tyler Nguyen to begin his apprenticeship. Tyler grew up in a creative family, which helped infuse a love and respect for art of all forms in him at a young age. When he was five years-old he fell in love with the art of tattooing, and as he got older he worked on honing his drawing skills so he could one day fulfill his dream of becoming a tattoo artist. He specializes in the styles of bio-organic, bio-mechanical, and neo-traditional. He has a love for H.R. Giger, especially his work at with Alien franchise. In early 2015 he completed his apprenticeship and has achieved his dream of becoming a full time tattoo artist!

In September 2014, we took on a new shop apprentice Amalia Aveni. Amalia comes from a creative upbringing with her parents both working with many artistic forms including painting, forensic debate, theater, and culinary arts. With a childhood rich in creativity and support for her art Amalia grew to pursue many creative endeavors searching for one that would eventually be her career. Although having dabbled in many mediums, Amalia has found her home in illustration and painting. Seeing as her love for bold color and line work (inspired by comic books and animation) translated well into tattooing, Amalia is now a full time artist, specializing in color, neotraditional, floral, popart, and traditional Japanese work.

In August of 2016 Anthony Verstraete joined our little family, hailing from the East side of town. He is quite the artist, bringing the bold style of American Traditional, rustic and primitive traditional to the shop. An awesome painter, Anthony often has new flash work to share that would make for some amazing tattoos.

In the Summer of 2015 My Little Needle moved into a larger building, still in Plymouth’s Old Village.  Our new building allowed us to have space for 6 artist booths as well as a larger lobby space for clients to enjoy.

MLN is fully licensed, inspected and approved by the State of Michigan and the Wayne County Health Department. All artists are trained and certified in Blood Borne Pathogens and Cross Contamination Control. The studio uses the most up to date sterilizing techniques and can promise you a safe and healthy tattoo, with new needles for each client, one time use inks, bags over all equipment and an educated staff.

We use Intenze and Eternal brand inks. Intenze inks are Vegan friendly, and safe for all clients.

We also have artwork for sale in the studio and online, and are available for commissioned pieces.
